Leichhardt Aquatic Centre is a well-maintained, family-friendly facility that offers a great mix of pools and amenities for swimmers of all levels. The centre features multiple indoor and outdoor pools, including lap lanes, a dedicated teaching pool, and child-friendly splash areas, making it equally suitable for serious training and relaxed weekend visits. Water quality is consistently good, and the temperature across pools is comfortable year-round. The layout is spacious and practical, with plenty of shaded seating and grassy spots outside for families to unwind. The gym and group fitness areas add a nice bonus for anyone wanting a more complete workout routine. Staff are approachable, attentive, and professional swim instructors in particular get strong praise from parents for their patience and clear teaching style. While the centre can get busy during peak hours and swimming lessons, it remains efficiently managed, and facilities are kept clean despite high traffic. Change rooms and amenities are functional and regularly serviced. Overall, Leichhardt Aquatic Centre is a reliable, community-minded venue that delivers a great balance of recreation, fitness, and family appeal, making it a standout swimming option in the Inner West.

An Aussie Gem. An iconic Sydney swimming pool. It even has an old diving tower - not in use. Unfortunately this beauty will be knocked down soon and replaced with hopefully something just as good.

Wonderful place with the kids!! The cafe is amazing food, coffee, and such lovely people working there! My kids have been doing swimming lessons over the last ten years and I have sent letters of compliments quite a few times, as they have excellent instructors but they have helped facilitate the best times for our family many many times, for which I’m so thankful! We spend so many hours there without a care for leaving, it is very easy going!

The absolute worst club I have ever been to I have been training in gyms for over 20 years, across many different locations, and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. The standard of customer service here is incredibly poor, and completely different to the warm, welcoming service I receive at the Ashfield and Marrickville branches. The main reason I am leaving and writing this review is due to the extremely aggressive, rude, and unprofessional behaviour from a staff member named Maria. Maria is on the front desk a customer service representative my sister who has Down Syndrome, and a valid Companion Card. The whole purpose of this card is to allow a carer to enter and assist so that people with disabilities can access facilities safely. When I politely asked a question regarding how it works, Maria immediately became hostile and aggressive. She incorrectly told me that as a carer I am not allowed to train, I must just stand and watch. When I explained this is not the policy at other branches, she threatened to call them and "make sure they stop" doing it correctly. I asked her simply to please have compassion for people with special needs and their families, and she was dismissive and cold. Her tone was loud, confrontational, and extremely disrespectful. There is zero hospitality here — no smiles, no greeting, no kindness. Maria’s attitude and lack of knowledge regarding disability support policies is unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I will be sharing this experience with others. If you want respect or kindness, go to Ashfield or Marrickville instead — avoid this branch. Ive trained at so many different gyms over the years, and I’ve never seen a place like this where they police only people who don’t have a towel, but completely ignore the real, disgusting hygiene going on right under their noses. 🤢 People use the same towel for a whole week straight, wiping sweat all over themselves and then back onto every machine. I’ve watched people wipe 20 different pieces of equipment with the same single tissue! Worse still — I’ve actually seen people pick at their skin, wipe snot from their nose, and smear it straight onto the handles and seats. 🤮 Yet the personal trainers are only interested in policing anyone without a towel, while letting this filth spread everywhere. The result? Every piece of equipment is absolutely filthy and unhygienic — it’s disgusting. On top of that, supersetting is not allowed at all. If you’re limited on time and want to fit your full workout in efficiently, you basically can’t — you either have to skip exercises at the end or risk being told off. It makes training properly impossible for anyone with a busy schedule.

If you are looking to do a training swim and can swim under 2mins/100m GO TO ANOTHER POOL!!! Had the huge displeasure of attempting a training session here today at 430pm. The ‘fast lane’ was full of swimmers between 2:30min/100m or worse. And no they won’t go into to medium or slow lane and No, the pool deck staff have no interest in assisting. This is not a place to train. This is a place for getting your hair wet. A swim in the parramatta river would have been a far better choice.
